Metal cutting data provide a new standard

The ISO13399 "Expression and Exchange of Cutting Tool Data" standard provides metal cutting data in a neutral form and is independent of any particular system or business term nomenclature. Manufacturers can enter relevant information directly into the PLM, CAD, CAM and CNC simulation systems or tool management systems and the shop floor can determine the best machining solution that matches the most efficient tool selection by quickly accessing the required tool data.

This standard was developed by Sandvik Coromant in conjunction with the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and the French Machinery Industry Technology Center to eliminate the limitations caused by terminological differences in collecting cutting tool information.
